Amoxicillin is commonly used to prevent or treat dental infections.
Tell your dentist if you have an allergy to penicillin, have had taken antibiotics recently, or if you are currently taking tetracyclines or allopurinol.
How to use
Take amoxicillin exactly as prescribed and finish the full course of treatment (even if you start feeling better). It can be taken with or without food.
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose. Use your next dose at the regular time. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Side effects
Amoxicillin can sometimes cause nausea, or in some people an allergic reaction.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including:
fever that doesn't go away
new or worsening lymph node swelling
rash
itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat)
severe dizziness
trouble breathing
Storage
Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets.
